Energy-Saving Bulbs
Energy-Saving Bulbs

A huge number of people around the globe are switching from old traditional light bulbs to eco-friendly new gen energy saving light bulbs. The reason is simple – they want to save both money and energy. But, the truth is that these new light bulbs are very toxic.

In fact, the EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency) has revealed an emergency protocol that people should follow in case a bulb like this breaks and the toxic gas in it is released. In case this new generation light bulbs are broken inside the home/office they will lead to 20 times more mercury concentration than allowed.

This is a fact that was confirmed by the scientists from the famous Fraunhofer Wilhelm Klauditz Institute from Germany.

Now here’s a list of possible effects that energy efficient light bulbs can create:

  • – Cluster headaches
  • – Dizziness
  • – Seizures
  • – Migraines
  • – Fatigue
  • – Anxiety
  • – Inability to concentrate

Energy efficient light bulbs can lead to migraines, anxiety, and cancer.

A few reasons why you should stick to standard incandescent light bulbs:

1. New generation light bulbs are loaded with mercury

In case you didn’t know, mercury is a very powerful neurotoxin that can cause even more problems in pregnant women and kids. Mercury is especially dangerous for the nervous system, brain, liver, and kidneys.

A few studies suggest that it can harm the immune, cardiovascular and reproductive system too. It was also associated with anxiety, tremors, headaches, memory loss, insomnia, Alzheimer’s disease and even with cancer.

2. They can lead to cancer

A scientific study published not while ago and led by Peter Braun from the Alab Laboratory in Berlin, Germany, has confirmed that energy efficient light bulbs are packed with different poisonous and dangerous carcinogens that can lead to cancer:

Phenol – a slightly acidic toxic white solid in the form of crystalline that originates from coal tar and typically used in the chemical industry.

Naphthalene – an unstable white crystalline structure that originates from distilled coal tar and typically used in mothballs and as a raw material in the chemical industry.

Styrene – a liquid hydrocarbon and a petroleum byproduct.

3. New generation light bulbs create a huge number of UV rays

It turns out that energy saving bulbs create a low level of UV-C radiation and UV-B radiation. It’s a well-known fact that UV radiation is bad for the eyes and the skin (it can result in skin cancer).

So, these bulbs create radiation that has a negative impact on the immune system which means that it damages the deep layers of skin and inhibits the creation of vitamin D3 in the body.

So, new generation energy saving light bulbs are extremely toxic that authorities recommend to throw them in special trash cans. This is what we call hazardous waste.

In case one of them is broken in your house, you must open all the doors and windows immediately and leave the house for at least 15 minutes in order to avoid poisonous gas exposure.

Sadly, it won’t take much time before buyers can buy only this type of light bulbs. The EISA (Energy Independence and Security Act) introduced in 2007 requires discontinuation of production of incandescent light bulbs and recommends the use of CFL bulbs instead.
